Journey?

Do we go on journeys for the destination or the experiences along the way? Would we still go on the journey without knowing the ending? Or are we so focused on the ending that we miss the journey? Am I too focused on the end that I forget to appreciate the now, am I too scared off taking the wrong turns that I stick to an old route map and miss out on other aspects of the journey, does the fear of getting it wrong prevent me from exploring? What’s the point anyway is it to be happy now, to get to the destination, a bit of both, or maybe some other as yet to be revealed purpose. Is there a way of measuring the success of the journey now? Or in the future?

Knowing the real life you rather well I would say that the last 3 years of your life answer that question to some extent….you never knew where it was leading, you seemed to enjoy the journey though.
I think we all hope to know the destination but don’t. I think back on the conversations with you over the years and would say you haven’t missed the journey….you’ve travelled it well. I think at times you have tried to stay on the old route map but have been dragged / wandered off with the help of various friends over the years. I think the success of the journey can be measured in different ways.
What I would say though is over the last 11 years, since I met you, some journeys I’ve seen you go on have been kak and some have been successful. However, without them all you wouldn’t be (i) where you are now, or more importantly (ii) who you are now.
